I will use the default theme in WordPress to start out, but then will create more complicated themes as the tutorial continues. The Code is Here: bit.ly

@WollieX3 I’m working on the big one now. It should be up tomorrow. WordPress themes from scratch. I was told it has never been done in a video tutorial?

@derekbanas Yeah…. Well there one but It sucks…. The guy who did it was like rushing and he didn’t even explain anything… It was horrible.

@WollieX3 Hopefully mine won’t suck :) I actually broke it into 2 pieces just now so that it is more understandable. I’ll try to get it up tonight but it won’t probably get up till tomorrow.

That was a sweet video. Almost to much info to fast it seemed but as always its your teaching style that makes it stick. I got it. I was studying the syntax and thought up a few question about how the code reads through from HTML to PHP to Javascript to display the HTML as required by the condition set on the current page; but, those questions may work themselves out in the next videos. By that time I’ll be better versed to ask the questions properly. I be watching.

A pointer to show exactly where is referring to all the time and making it easier for the eyes to follow – would be very helpful.
Another think is don’t rush over things if they are necessary, it confuses the lesson. leave it until it’s time to deal with it in complete. Too many examples of things not needed straight away.

@ricardo8snehpets I should have stated that this is an overview video. It’s not meant to be memorized. I create the WordPress theme from scratch in WordPress Theme Tutorial Pt 4

Why is there ‘kubrick’, it is important or something? And thank you very much.

derekbanas

@MrAsacumvreau Kubrick was the name of the first WordPress theme. It is no longer installed in WordPress by default anymore. It’s just a theme

I mean in the code, i know what is kubric :D. It’s an argument, or in that way was the theme written with the name of the theme in the code? Fore example at the line with the date appears (y, m, d, ‘kubric’).

@MrAsacumvreau It helps translate the text by pointing toward the name of the theme in this situation being kubric. It’s probably the only part of WordPress that I don’t mess with because I only know 1 language.

excellent tutorial, but can i ask why you cut after almost every sentence? once i picked up on it, it got really annoying lol

derekbanas

Date: January 4, 2012 |

@FreebieUndead I cut out every breath. If I didn’t the video would be twice as long. It’s just what I do that makes me different. I figured people would prefer to get a non stop stream of information without pauses. I always hated videos that dragged on. It works for some but not everyone

@Virulent87 Everything is pretty much the same. The only thing that needs changed is the horizontal menu and I covered that update in the tutorial named Cross Browser horizontal Menu. I plan to make a cross browser theme soon
